THE ARTS
Established in 1964, the goal of The Arts Facet is to produce and support programs to enrich the quality of life of African American communities through educational and engaging art experiences while Transforming Communities and Fulfilling Our Purpose. The Los Angeles (CA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated seeks to create and support visual and performing arts experiences within greater Los Angeles, especially with a focus on artists of color.
In Fall 2024, the Los Angeles Links formed a partnership with the Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (ICYOLA) in alignment with The Links Incorporated national Signature Arts Program: Classics Through the Ages. ICYOLA is the nation’s largest majority African American orchestra dedicated to empowering youth from underserved backgrounds through music with 300 youth musicians performing at prominent venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Wilshire Ebell and the Skirball Cultural Center. This synergistic partnership involves a dual mentoring program to mentor promising student artists, who will in turn mentor their peers, support formal classical music training, and support performance opportunities. Most significantly, the Los Angeles Links Chapter is a ground-floor donor of ICYOLA’s new youth center, a 9,500 square foot facility located in South Los Angeles where youth will study music and participate in academic tutoring and programming. With a scheduled completion date of Spring/Summer 2027, the Los Angeles Links envision that the ICYOLA center will also serve as a central meeting space to facilitate the chapter’s facet programming in Services To Youth, Health and Human Services, International Trends and Services and National Trends and Services.
